We are a fun, relaxed, upscale authentic Italian restaurant. We’re looking for a professional sauté cook to prepare food to the exact chef’s specifications and set up stations for the menu. To succeed here, you must have a passion for cooking and set the bar high for food quality. You should also enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant.

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sauté Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment. As a Sauté Cook, you will play a crucial role in our kitchen, ensuring that meals are prepared to perfection while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies, including turning on all equipment needed for the day’s functions.
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards.
  • Clean, cut, cook, and properly store meat, fish, and poultry.
  • Ensure the highest quality, presentation, and freshness of all foods served.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service during peak hours.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including workstations and equipment.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors at the end of each meal period and after each spill; empty and clean all trash cans when full or at the end of the shift.
  • Assist in stocking and rotating food items on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the taking of monthly inventories.
  • Stock paper towels and hand soap at both hand sinks in the kitchen.
  • Clean kitchen equipment such as vent hoods, steam tables, hot boxes, vapor box, carts, speed racks, ovens, grills, etc.; clean and organize storerooms.
  • Notify the supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment or unsafe conditions.
  • Prep certain staple foods (salads, cut potatoes, cut meat, etc.).
  • Follow executive or sous chef’s instructions and maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper handling of food products.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a cook in the food industry, preferably in fine dining or restaurant settings.
  • Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook, or prep cook.
  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with menu planning and the ability to adapt recipes based on seasonal ingredients.
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Experience working in a dietary aide or similar role is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with industry’s best practices.
