Banquet Captain-On Call

The banquet captain assists the Banquet Sales Event Manager in overseeing banquet staff and coordinating banquet functions to ensure that the groups using the banquet facilities are completely satisfied.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Banquet Sales Event manager ensures all set up and closing duties are completed as assigned
  • Performs set up and closing duties
  • Performs all banquet server duties
  • Prepares for events by organizing room and gathering equipment
  • Holds pre-shift meeting with banquet staff to ensure specific needs are communicated, including but not limited to set up and closing duties, service procedures, and special guest requests.
  • Anticipates guests’ needs, responds promptly and acknowledges all guests
  • Resolves guest complains, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Understand POS system.
  • In the absence of the Banquet Sales Event manager, responsible for cash handling procedures, and key holder accountability.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of proper service etiquette and standards
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Professional communication skills.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and ability to problem solve.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills and specialized knowledge of bartending and mixing drinks.
  • Banquet experience preferred
  • TIPS Certified preferred
  • Professional appearance
